Notice the subtle pointing-out that “hey, the Thunderbird has a back seat now!”

One of my favorite kinds of promos are the in-dealer-network promos from the ‘40s-’60s - the promos meant to sell the sales staff on the car. Much more time spent on features, what advantages the car has over competitors, and in depth because it’s to a captive audience. Lots of cutaways, driving test comparisons, that sort of thing. Not quite ads, not quite not-ads.

Also, +1 for Alliance. I need to remember to send this one to my buddy with one.

On of Ford’s worst ideas. They could have had a Corvette fighter but they went for personal luxury

What’s very odd is that the Thunderbird fell into the role of a small Lincoln, right as Lincoln... axed their actual smaller Lincolns. A DURR

Someone needs to shop an F-16 in place of the Cessna. Or maybe an F-84.

Check this out - the Lincoln/Mercury Old Parts Store (I’ve gotten a thing or two from them) have snapped and done something awesome:
Granted, that’s not in the cards at the moment, but they actually commissioned repro *Lincoln* Super Marauder parts. One of the guys there is one of the foremost ‘58/’60 experts (he was the resource for a Hemmings article) so it’s not surprising they’re the ones, but this is kind crazy.

That price... Yikes. I guess if you are building that’s supply and demand for you.

The casting, machining, polishing of the air cleaner is spendy, to be sure - let alone the manifold. They’re selling the air cleaner setup alone for like $2k, and the fuel filter thing (another specialty cast part!) for $1k, and the only guy selling an original Super Marauder intake manifold on eBay right now is selling it for $1500. That’s all leaving out the carbs - there’s something like a grand or grand and a half in carbs.
Taking into account that the last few dealer box whole Super Marauder kits went for >$7k, it’s not a shock. One could attempt to do it piecewise to blunt the cost or try to use an FE Tri-power modified to fit, but it wouldn’t be *authentic*, and that’s what they’re offering. That’s why the aluminum sediment bowl thing for the fuel filter - that was part of the kit, so they’re contracting it out, gorramit.
